Isaiah’s Leader

Someday I will be a ruler,

And my reign will be totally peaceful.

Long ago the LORD God showed his prophet Isaiah

What his coming Kingdom would be like.

A small child leads a goat by a leash.

I am a child of Adam and Eve,

Like you.

Long ago, our parents lived in peaceful paradise

With the beasts of the field and the birds of the air for friends.

Someday we will live like this again

Like God promises when he says,

“The wolf will live with the lamb,

The leopard will lie down with the goat,

The calf and the lion and the yearling together;

And a little child will lead them.

The cow will feed with the bear,

A baby smiles at a large snake that is wrapped lovingly around the baby's body.

Their young will lie down together,

And the lion will eat straw like the ox.

The infant will play near the hole of the cobra,

And the young child put his hand into the viper’s nest.

They will neither harm nor destroy

On all my holy mountain,

For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD

As the waters cover the sea.”

We will all live with each other –

Not only people with animals,

But people with people.

A young girl in a head covering feeds a large lion with a mane from the palm of her hand.

Jew with Gentile,

Slave with free,

Male with female,

All equal,

All friends,

All at peace.

And a little child will lead them.
